Termite Inspection & Treatment FAQs

How often should I get a termite inspection?
AS 3660.2 recommends a minimum annual termite inspection for all homes. In high-risk areas like the Hunter Valley, we recommend every 6 to 12 months — particularly for timber-framed homes.
What does a termite inspection involve?
A standard termite inspection to AS 3660.2 includes a thorough visual inspection of all accessible areas of your home to check for termite activity, timber damage, and conditions that may increase the risk of termites. You'll receive a detailed report with our findings and recommendations.
How long does a chemical barrier last?
The lifespan of a chemical termite treatment zone depends on the product used, soil conditions and installation method. Most modern termite treatments provide protection for up to 8 years, however annual termite inspections are still recommended to ensure your home remains protected and to identify any changes that may affect the termite treatment zone.
Will my home insurance cover termite damage?
In most cases, no. Standard home insurance policies in Australia exclude termite damage. This is why an annual inspection and an active protection system are essential.
What are the advantages of a Sentricon® Always Active™ Baiting System over a chemical barrier?
Unlike a chemical barrier, which relies on termites passing through a treated zone, the Sentricon® Always Active™ Baiting System is designed to attract termites and eliminate the entire colony. It provides continuous protection without the need for large volumes of chemicals in the soil, making it ideal for properties where a complete chemical barrier isn't possible due to paths, driveways, extensions or drainage. The system is professionally monitored throughout the year to ensure ongoing protection.

We had Liam from CPR Pest Control attend our home today for a pest spray, and we were really impressed with the service. He was professional, friendly, and very thorough. He took the time to explain everything clearly, especially around keeping our pets safe after the treatment. He arrived on time, worked efficiently, and patiently answered all of our questions. It was great to deal with someone who seemed to genuinely care about providing quality service. Highly recommend CPR Pest Control, especially Liam.
